Silverstone bosses hope to sign off plans for a major redevelopment plan of the home of the British Grand Prix on Friday, as they continue a push to find investors.
With the second phase of Silverstone's redevelopment - focused around the new £28 million 'wing' pits and paddock complex - now complete, attention is shifting to a wider update that will include hotels, a new kart track, music arenas, car showrooms and experience centres.
The board of Silverstone Circuit hopes to approve the scheme at a meeting ahead of the British Grand Prix, before it is then sent to the local authorities over the next few weeks for approval. It is hoped that the plans can then be signed off fully later this year.
Before the plans can progress, however, Silverstone's owner, the British Racing Drivers' Club, needs to find investors to fund the project.
Silverstone's managing director Richard Phillips said: "It won't happen overnight and it will require funding.

Goodwood Host Four F1 World Champs!

Nigel Mansell is to race against F1 aces Damon Hill, Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button - at the age of 57. The 1992 world champion will drive a Lotus against his younger rivals at the Goodwood Festival of Speed next month. It will be the first time Britain's last four F1 world champs have raced together at Goodwood. Organiser Lord March said: "We're spoiled to have them with us - the fans are in for a real treat."

Jenson Button On Future!

Jenson Button wants to stay at McLaren for the rest of his Formula One career. The 2009 world champion is due to open talks about a new contract with the team this summer. And he insists he does not want to go to any other outfit as he has gelled so well with McLaren. Button currently on a three-year contract that began at the start of 2010 said:
"When I finish racing here, I won't be racing in Formula One any more. "I'm very happy here. I want to enjoy my racing and I'm really enjoying my time here. I can't see any reason to be anywhere else."
