Jenson Button
has told McLaren boss Martin Whitmarsh: I want to sign for another year.
A day after his brilliant drive in Belgium where he stormed through the field from 19th to take third, Frome flier Button urged his team principal to take up the option in his contract of another year.
Jenson Button
said: "All Whitmarsh has to do is say yes, and I will say yes because I want to be here next year. It's up to the team as to when they approach me, but for me I'm the happiest I've been with the car."
Of the top four teams — McLaren, Red Bull, Ferrari and Mercedes — Button, 31, is the only driver without a guaranteed seat for next season

Hamilton & Button To End Careers At McLaren!

Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button's boss reckons his Formula One dream team can carry on for another five years at least.
And the duo have both been told they can see out their careers at McLaren. Button's three-season, £24million deal ends next year - as does Hamilton's £75m, five-year contract. But team chief Martin Whitmarsh said: "I hope their relationship goes on for many more years.
"Jenson's got another five years in him if he wants it. Lewis has got another 10 years in F1.

Alonso Thinks Vettel Is Out Of Reach Now!

Fernando Alonso says world champion and championship leader Sebastian Vettel is currently out of reach given his current form. Red Bull driver Vettel has enjoyed a perfect start to the season, with two poles and two wins in as many races so far.
Alonso managed a fourth place in the Australian Grand Prix and a sixth in Malaysia last weekend. The Spaniard admitted he was upbeat about the pace of his Ferrari in race trim in Sepang, but he conceded that Vettel is out of reach at the moment.

Minichamps Release McLaren MP4/13 World Champion 1998 Hakkinen!

A winner at last, Hakkinen was confident of further success in 1998. With Adrian Newey, the renowned former Williams-Renault designer, now on board at McLaren, Hakkinen found himself in the fastest car for early 1998 season. He did not waste the opportunity, and opened up a significant lead in the Drivers' Championship. However, a combination of car problems, bad luck, and a resurgent Michael Schumacher saw the two drivers level on points with just two races to go. Häkkinen held his nerve, beating Schumacher in a straight fight at the Luxembourg Grand Prix and going on to win his 8th Grand Prix of the season in Japan, clinching the title whilst Schumacher stalled on the grid, and later retired with a punctured tyre.
